Sanaig is a Kilchoman single malt from Islay, bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It takes its name from an inlet on the island's rugged Atlantic coast.
It is a vatting of Oloroso sherry and bourbon casks, with a high proportion of sherry. The Oloroso adds dried fruit and spice to Kilchoman's citrus sweetness and peat smoke. It was named best NAS single malt Scotch at the IWSC in 2016 and 2022.
The nose has heather, raisins, pear, orange peel, stone fruit, mixed spice and rich peat smoke. On the palate, ripe plums, red cherries and citrus give way to barbecue peat smoke, toffee, oak and dark chocolate. The finish is mouth-coating, with mixed fruit, caramel, cinnamon, clove and lasting sweetness.
