Kilkerran – 8 Year Old Bourbon Cask Strength (57.7%)

A cask-strength Kilkerran from Campbeltown, matured for its full eight years in bourbon casks and bottled at 57.7%. The distillery was founded by William Mitchell in 1872 and was renamed Kilkerran after Saint Kerran, whose religious cell stood where Campbeltown now stands. The bourbon casks give layers of vanilla custard and banoffee pie, along with a coastal character. The nose opens with butterscotch, custard creams and apple butter. On the palate come shortbread crust, caramel chocolate, gooseberries and cigar box smoke. The finish brings green peppercorn and honeydew melon with an ashy note.
