Knappogue Castle 12 Year Old is a triple-distilled Irish single malt, bottled at 46% ABV in a 75cl bottle. It matured for its full twelve years in ex-bourbon barrels before a finish in French Limousin-oak Cognac casks.
It belongs to the Cask Finish Series from Castle Brands and was limited to 1,500 bottles. It is non-chill filtered and of natural colour.
On the nose there is malt, honey and green apple, with grape and toasted oak from the Cognac casks. The palate adds dried apricot, fig, baking spice and vanilla, and the finish is long and warming, with oak spice and Cognac-soaked fruit.
