Kyrö Wood Smoke Malt Rye Whisky (70cl, 47.2%)

A Finnish malted rye whisky from Kyrö Distillery Company in Isokyrö, made entirely from malted Finnish wholegrain rye. It is bottled at 47.2% in a 70cl bottle. The malt is dried over alder wood smoke in a Riihi barn about a hundred years old, rather than over peat. After double distillation in pot stills, the whisky matures in ex-bourbon casks, French oak and new American white oak. The nose combines vanilla, caramel and pepper with sweet smoke and tar. On the palate there is strong smoke with sweet rye bread, honey and oak, and the long finish is woody, spicy and smoky, warm and slightly dry.
