La Famiglia The Hogfather Final Batch Ledaig 14 Year Old (35cl, 55.8%)

The Hogfather final batch is a 14-year-old Ledaig from Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull, bottled by La Famiglia at 55.8% in a 35cl bottle. It matured in a second-fill sherry hogshead, then spent two years finishing in a small 114-litre PX demi fût. The nose combines earthy peat smoke, red fruits and the farmyard note typical of Ledaig. The palate is full, with a touch of dark chocolate, a slightly dirty edge and a warm, milky stable note that smoke, plum and cherry soon cover. In the finish the smoke fades, leaving increasingly tart fruit that drifts towards plum.
