This is a 12 year old Islay single malt from Lagavulin, part of the 2025 Diageo Special Releases. It is a limited edition bottled at a natural cask strength of 56.5% ABV, non-chill filtered and without added colouring.
Grain & Embers was matured in a mix of refill casks and European oak butts seasoned with Pedro Ximenez and Oloroso sherry.
The nose is phenolic, with smouldering peat, charcoal, wood ash, sea spray and cracked black pepper. On the palate, raisins, figs and dates meet smoke, salted caramel and malted barley. The finish is long, drying and smoky, with sea salt and charred wood.
