Lagavulin 12 Year Old Special Release 2021 is an Islay single malt Scotch whisky, in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in refill American oak casks chosen to show the distillery's character.
The colour is pale gold. The nose is mild, with ashy top notes and linseed oil, then boiled-sweet fruit and a fresh breath of sea air. On the palate it is soft and smooth, sweeter than expected, with smoke and a little salt, and lightly drying mid-palate. The finish is long and very smoky, with a salty aftertaste. Water brings out more sweetness.
