Lagavulin 16 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Lagavulin distillery on Islay.
The distillery stands in a small bay on the island's southern coast and was founded in 1816. Its name comes from the Gaelic Lag A'Mhouillin, which means the hollow where the mill stands.
Islay's land is rich in peat, and the whiskies of the island are known for a smoky character.
