Lagavulin 16 Year Old is a single malt Scotch whisky aged for sixteen years, in which the smoke works with the flavours from distillation and maturation rather than covering them.
The peat runs to Lapsang Souchong tea, pipe tobacco, fish boxes and kippers. The nose also shows laurel and light cereal, and is always sweet.
On the palate there is more creosote, with hints of kelp and a touch of iodine.
