Lagavulin 16 Year Old is an Islay single malt bottled at 43% ABV. It is described as the best-selling malt in the Classic Malts of Scotland series.
The character is powerful and spicy, with a complex flavour and very smoky notes.
The nose is intense peat smoke with iodine and seaweed over a rich, deep sweetness. The palate is dry peat smoke with a soft but strong sweetness, then sea and salt with hints of wood. The finish is long and elegant, full of peat, salt and seaweed.
