This is a 16 year old Lagavulin single malt from Islay, a 1990s bottling labelled White Horse. It is described as complex, full-bodied and well balanced, with the Classic Malts of Scotland status.
The colour is amber resin. The nose opens with sweet peat smoke, pipe tobacco, sea salt, brine and tar, with light red fruit and menthol. The palate is smooth yet oily, with dark chocolate, orange peel, coffee icing, crème caramel, cinnamon and vanilla leading into the peat smoke. The finish is longer, bringing out citrus and earthy notes while the smoke carries on in the background.
