Lagavulin 16 Year Old is the standard 16 year old bottling from Lagavulin, a distillery on the southern shore of Islay. The distillery was built in 1816 and is known for a heavily peated single malt with strong iodine character.
Its house style brings to mind seaweed, brine, iodine, medicine and tar. On the palate it is described as very thick and rich, with a big mouthful of malt and sherry, fruity sweetness, and powerful peat and oak.
