Lagg – Corriecravie (55%)

Corriecravie is the second standard bottling in the core range from Lagg Distillery on the Isle of Arran, which has made peated whisky since 2019. This single malt is bottled at 55% and has a peat level of 50 ppm. It matured in ex-bourbon casks and then spent six months in Oloroso sherry hogsheads that came directly from a bodega in Jerez. The name comes from a hamlet north-west of the village of Lagg, where illicit stills were once said to produce Arran water of ill repute. The nose offers dark red berries and bitter chocolate wrapped in sweet smoke. The palate is intense and complex, with oriental spices, a touch of hazelnut and gentle earthy smoke. The finish is long, with berries and warm smoke.
