Lagg – Inaugural Release Batch 2 (Ex-Oloroso Sherry) (70cl, 50%)

Batch 2 of the Lagg inaugural release, a peated single malt from the Isle of Arran, bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. The barley was peated to 50ppm. The spirit spent 30 months in ex-bourbon casks, then a further six months in small, custom-built 55 litre firkins that previously held Oloroso sherry. The outturn was 10,000 bottles. The earthy peat on the nose is almost hidden behind an intense, dark fruitiness, which comes through strongly on the palate. A peaty whisky with a fleshy, unusual character.
