Lagg – Inaugural Release Batch 3 (Ex-Rioja Red Wine) (70cl, 50%)

Batch 3 of the Lagg inaugural release, a single malt from the Isle of Arran, bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from a heavily peated spirit, peated to 50ppm, and is the most experimental edition of the release. After 30 months in ex-bourbon casks, the whisky rested for six months in heavily charred 50 litre barrels that had held Spanish Rioja red wine. Production was limited to 10,000 bottles. The cask brings deep red fruit and elegant, tannic edges, which meet and then blend with earthy smoke and dark chocolate.
