Lagg Small Batch Quarter Cask is a heavily peated single malt from the Lagg distillery on the Isle of Arran, in a 70cl bottle. It was matured first in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels, then in 50-litre quarter casks. It is bottled without chill-filtration and at natural colour.
The nose is earthy peat smoke, toasted oak and bonfire ash with vanilla and citrus oil. The palate shows peated barley, salted butter, dark caramel and ginger, with dark cocoa and a medicinal brine note. The finish is long, dry and smoky, with wood ash and black pepper.
