Langatun – 2019/2025 6 Year Old Peated Rioja Cask #468 (50cl, 49.1%)

This is a six-year-old peated single malt from Langatun in Switzerland, bottled as a single cask release in a 50cl bottle at 49.12%. It was distilled on 8 May 2019 and bottled on 15 September 2025, having spent its whole maturation in cask 468, a lightly toasted Rioja cask of American and French oak, rather than a finish. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring. The nose combines sweet smoke, crème brûlée, plum, damson and grape with toasted almonds. On the palate come apple, raisin and cinnamon, with spicy, slightly bitter wood, restrained sweetness and gentle smoke. The finish is long, as smoke and wood come forward with dry spice, winter spices and a fine ginger bite.
