Laphroaig 10 Year Old Sherry Cask is an Islay single malt in a 70cl bottle at 48% ABV. It matures first in ex-bourbon casks and is then finished in European oak casks that previously held Oloroso sherry. The distillery selects the finishing casks by hand.
The sweet, spicy influence of the sherry sits alongside strong peat smoke, and the maritime character of the Islay malt stays clear. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The nose combines manuka honey, cloves and leather with peat smoke, iodine and smoked bacon. The palate is sweet and waxy, with toffee, maple syrup and dark chocolate against pine needles and cedar. The finish is long, with lingering sweetness, smouldering peat, nuts and a fine touch of salt.
