Laphroaig – 10 Year Old (70cl, 40%)

Laphroaig 10 Year Old is an Islay single malt from the Laphroaig Distillery, matured for ten years in ex-bourbon barrels and bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. The distillery uses its own peat and water from the Kilbride Stream, and its warehouses stand at the edge of the Atlantic. The bourbon casks add vanilla sweetness and charred oak to a peat-smoke character often described as medicinal. The nose is iodine, sea spray and earthy peat smoke with vanilla. The palate is oily and full-bodied, with bonfire smoke, salinity, warming spice and burnt citrus peel. The finish is long and smoky, with ash, dry oak and black pepper.
