Laphroaig 10 Years Old is a single malt Scotch whisky bottled at cask strength, 58.6% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. This is Batch 11, bottled in 2019.
The nose opens with dense peat smoke and Laphroaig's medicinal character of iodine, old bandages and tar, followed by sea salt, seaweed, toffee, vanilla and a touch of lemon juice. The palate is oily and full-bodied, with ashy smoke, salted caramel, citrus turning to sweet orange, smoked bacon, black pepper and clove. The finish is very long, dry and warm, with peat smoke, salt, black liquorice and a return of vanilla.
