Laphroaig – 10 Years Old Islay Single Malt

Laphroaig 10 Years Old is an Islay single malt matured for ten years in American ex-bourbon casks. The casks bring softer vanilla and oak tones that sit against the peat smoke and salty, maritime character of the whisky. Part of the barley is still malted on the distillery's own malting floors and dried over Islay peat smoke. Laphroaig was founded in 1815 and lies right on the sea on Islay's south coast. The nose is intense peat smoke with seaweed and sea air, a medicinal edge and a quiet sweetness. The palate is full and powerful, with layers of peat, salt and a surprising sweetness. The finish is long, with peat smoke, salt and a gentle sweetness.
