Laphroaig 12 is an Islay single malt, bottled by the distillery at 46% in a 70cl bottle. This edition was made for the global travel retail market.
All twelve years of maturation took place in hand-selected ex-bourbon casks of American oak. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The nose brings sea salt and seaweed with stewed green apple, heather honey and a hint of rhubarb, over vanilla, hazelnut and tarry peat embers. The palate pairs carbolic soap and smouldering bonfire with blackcurrant, thyme and liquorice. The finish is sweet and powerful, moving into iodine and an oily, maritime note.
