Laphroaig – 15 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

Laphroaig 15 Year Old is an Islay single malt matured for fifteen years in American oak bourbon casks. First released in 1985, it returned in 2026 after a ten-year absence as a permanent part of the core range. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle, in natural colour and without chill-filtration. Donald and Alexander Johnston founded Laphroaig in 1815 on the south coast of Islay. The longer maturation gives a fuller, rounder texture, while peat smoke, sea salt, citrus and gentle sweetness remain. The nose brings orange peel and grapefruit with dried hay, soft vanilla, a touch of clove and light barbecue smoke. On the palate, strong smoke and sea salt lead to black pepper, cinnamon, clove and ground coriander, followed by juicy peach and ripe grapefruit. The finish is long and smoky.
