Laphroaig – 15 Years Old Islay Single Malt (70cl, 46%)

Laphroaig 15 Years Old is an Islay single malt matured in American ex-bourbon casks and bottled at 46%. It was first launched in 1985, and it returned to the Laphroaig core range after about ten years away. Laphroaig was founded in 1815 and stands on the south coast of Islay. Here the peat smoke and maritime character of the house style have fifteen years in the cask to develop. The nose is fresh citrus, with orange peel and grapefruit, then dried hay, soft vanilla and a hint of clove, and the familiar smoke sits deeper in the background. On the palate it is described with sea salt, black pepper and warm spices.
