Laphroaig – 15 Years (70cl, 46%)

This is a 15 year old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, back in the distillery's core range after many years away. It is bottled at 46% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It matured in first fill and second fill bourbon casks. It has the peat, smoke and saltiness expected of Laphroaig and Islay, with added complexity from the longer maturation. The nose is gentle maritime smoke followed by iodine, with orange, grapefruit, pineapple, clove and vanilla. The palate is creamy and velvety, with smoke, sea salt, barley, vanilla and black pepper. The finish is medium in length with a bittersweet touch.
