This is an 18 year old Laphroaig from Islay, distilled in 1995 and bottled in 2013 for the American market. It comes in a 75cl bottle at 48% (96 proof), with a white tube.
It matured in bourbon casks. Peat smoke, sea salt, seaweed and a little iodine run through it, balanced by ripe fruit, vanilla and sweetness.
The nose is salty seaweed and fine peat smoke with ripe banana, baked apple, a little ash and maritime freshness. The palate is creamy and soft, with salty peat smoke, iodine, vanilla, lemon sweets, banana and heather. The finish is long, citrusy and smoky, with lingering peat and spice.
