Laphroaig – 18 Years Old Diamond Jubilee 1952-2012 (70cl, 48%)

A Laphroaig single malt aged 18 years, released for the Diamond Jubilee 1952-2012 and bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. The nose starts with soft caramel and toffee, lightly spiced, then sea salt and seaweed, the distillery's peat smoke, delicate phenols, honey, vanilla and freshly cut hay. On the palate a warm wave of smoke gives way to sweet floral notes, in an oily, silky texture with ripe fruit, nutmeg, toffee, soft chocolate and a little heather. The finish is long and full-bodied, with lingering peat smoke and a gentle marine dryness.
