This is an older release of Laphroaig 18 Years Old, an Islay single malt bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The 18 Years Old was first introduced in 2009 as a replacement for the 15 Year Old, was discontinued around the end of 2016 and was relaunched in 2024. This bottling dates from the 2009 era.
It matured for 18 years in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels. The colour is a deep amber-gold, and the character is oily and waxy, with a soft, rounded peat.
On the nose, gentle peat smoke mingles with vanilla, soft spice, wild heather and honeyed malt.
