Laphroaig 18 Years is an Islay single malt that the distillery brought back in 2024, after its earlier 18 year old was discontinued around 2016. It matured for 18 years in ex-bourbon casks of American oak and is bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle, without added colouring or chill filtration.
The nose has clear peat smoke and sweet vanilla, soft toffee and gooseberries. On the palate it is full-bodied, with spicy cinnamon, freshly baked apple pie, and a touch of iodine and smoke. The finish is long, with herbs, mint and peaty notes.
