This is a 32-year-old Laphroaig from Islay, distilled in 1991 and bottled in 2024 at 50.3% by Murray McDavid for its Mission Gold series. It was matured in a single bourbon barrel, number 2410092, which gave 262 bottles in 70cl. It is not chill-filtered and has no added colouring.
The long bourbon maturation adds a pronounced vanilla note alongside the smoke and peat of the Islay malt.
The nose combines chimney smoke and a maritime note with lemon peel and mossy stones. The palate shows green peat, baked apple and a subtle hint of tobacco, with an oily, full texture. The finish is long, with smoke, mild ginger and an oily touch.
