This is a 27-year-old Islay single malt from Laphroaig, released in the Map Label range of C. Dully Selection.
The nose opens with bonfire smoke, earth and leather, with iodine and plaster softened by seaweed and sea spray. Honey sits underneath, and a layered, almost tropical fruitiness emerges slowly.
On the palate, peat smoke and medicinal notes are lifted by lemon, grapefruit and orange peel, followed by apricot, peach and a mineral, herbal depth. The finish is long, with lingering smoke, medicinal hints and a honeyed fruit sweetness.
