Laphroaig – 30 Years Old Distilled 1985 Bottled 2016 (70cl, 53.5%)

This Laphroaig is a 30 year old Islay single malt, distilled in 1985 and bottled in 2016 at 53.5% in a 70cl bottle. The nose shows ripe tropical fruit such as mango and tangerine, with coconut and toasted almond. Peat oils run quietly through cedar wood, smoked sage, vanilla, honey and a light salty sea breeze. The palate is oily and creamy, with strong orange peel, vanilla cream and dark toffee, plus coriander, grated ginger and ginseng root over a cedar cigar box. The peat smoke is mature and gentle. The finish is exceptionally long, with stone fruit, hand-rolled green tobacco, old oak and a faint medicinal echo.
