Laphroaig – 33 Years Old The Ian Hunter Story 3 (70cl, 49.9%)

This is a 33 year old Laphroaig single malt, the third bottling in The Ian Hunter Story series. It was bottled by D. Johnston & Co. at 49.9% ABV and comes in a 70cl bottle. The whisky is a deep copper colour. The nose opens with pears, peaches and apricots, a good deal of condensed sweetness, then honey, rose petals and a pinch of nutmeg, ending in dry, ashy peat. The palate starts sweet, syrupy and fruity, then gives way to a second wave of aniseed and creamy liquorice. The finish is very long, with vanilla and ashy peat alternating.
