Laphroaig – Cairdeas (70cl, 55%)

Laphroaig Cairdeas is a single malt Scotch whisky from the Laphroaig distillery, bottled at 55% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The nose combines dense campfire smoke with strongly medicinal notes of iodine, hospital gauze and fresh tar. Beneath sit vanilla, cream ice cream, caramel and heather honey, with sea breeze, seaweed and lemon zest. The palate is oily and chewy, with earthy peat, wood smoke and ash, then ripe citrus and warm cinnamon. Almond, black liquorice and toasted sugar follow. The finish is medium to long, dry and spiced, with charcoal, toasted oak and a hint of dried apricot.
