Laphroaig – Elements 1.0

Laphroaig Elements 1.0 is the first release in the Elements series, which explores new flavours through changes made within the distillery itself, as well as through cask finishes and maturation styles. This release comes from experimental mashing and fermentation. It combines mash tuns from different eras: two of 5.5 tonnes and one of 8.5 tonnes that was used before the 1990s. Both cloudy and semi-cloudy wort were used to bring out the peaty, phenolic notes and the tropical fruit flavours. Fermentation ran for 55 hours before distillation, closely managed by Distillery Manager Barry MacAffer.
