Laphroaig – PX Cask 1 Litre (1L, 48%)

This is a Laphroaig Islay single malt in a one-litre bottle, bottled at 48%. It is matured in three stages: first in American ex-bourbon barrels, then in small quarter casks, and finally finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry butts. The quarter casks add to its velvety texture. Peat smoke stays clear beside the sherry sweetness, with seaweed and ginger among the fruity and spicy impressions. The nose brings together sweetness and smoke with sultanas, raisins and liquorice. On the palate, peat smoke meets layers of oak and a heavy, sweet sherry note. The finish is long and dry, with strong peat smoke and dense sherry and oak.
