Laphroaig Quarter Cask is an Islay single malt, in a 70cl bottle at 48% ABV.
The whisky matured for five years in American ex-bourbon barrels, then spent seven months in quarter casks holding about 125 litres. The smaller casks give the spirit more contact with the wood, which strengthens its natural aromas.
The nose is led by peat and smoke, with sweet vanilla, a touch of nut and a little sea air. On the palate, creamy sweetness sits alongside bonfire smoke, spicy oak, pepper and malt. The finish is intense, balancing peat, wood and light sweetness.
