Ledaig 18 Years is an eighteen-year-old single malt from the Tobermory distillery on the Isle of Mull. It was matured in oak casks and then given a finish in Spanish sherry casks. This limited edition was bottled in small batches.
Ledaig has been distilled since 1996, when Ian MacMillan began making it after the distillery reopened in the 1990s.
The nose is warm and soft, with briny, slightly sour smoke, sea water and fruit vinegar. The palate is sweet and smoky, with tinned mandarins, hot sand and malt extract. The finish grows smokier, with dry, scorched malt.
Tasting Notes
Warm, soft, briny smoke with sea water and fruit vinegar; more malt and cask with time
Sweet smokiness, tinned mandarins, hot sand, old cold tea, malt extract on dry pale wood
Smokier over time, with dry, scorched malt
