Ledaig – 20 2001/2022 Signatory Vintage Refill Sherry Butt

This is a 20 year old Ledaig, distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2022 by Signatory Vintage. It is a single cask bottling at cask strength, matured in a refill sherry butt. The nose pairs ripe orchard fruit, orange oil and a trace of cocoa powder with a distinct mineral smoke. On the palate there are notes of dark cherry chocolate and roasted almonds, joined by winter spices and aniseed, with a hint of fatty, bacon-like smoke. The finish is long and complex, shaped by salted caramel and caramelised cane sugar.
