This is a 16 year old Ledaig single malt from the Islands, bottled by Signatory Vintage in its Cask Strength Collection. It was distilled in 2005 and bottled in 2022 at 66.1% ABV, from a refill sherry butt, cask number 900036. The 512 bottles are non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
Peat smoke leads the nose, with damp earth, roasted peanuts, gingerbread spice and a range of dried fruits. On the palate the smoke is full-bodied, with a light sea breeze, raisins, stewed plums and roasted nuts showing the sherry cask, then freshly ground pepper and espresso.
The finish is medium in length and warming, with intense smoke, rye bread and strawberry jam.
