Ledaig – 2012-2022 9 Year Old Bordeaux Red Wine Cask (70cl, 56.8%)

A small batch Ledaig distilled in 2012 and bottled at cask strength in late 2022, after nine years in Bordeaux red wine casks. It is part of Tobermory's Limited Edition series and comes in a 70cl bottle at 56.8%. Ledaig is Tobermory's peated malt, and here its meaty, barbecue-style smoke sits alongside deep red fruit flavours from the wine casks. The colour is bronze. The nose brings smoked fudge, eucalyptus oil and carbolic soap. On the palate there is burning heather and pine cones, grape skins and melon, and wood-smoked meats. The finish turns floral as the smoke fades, ending with lime pastilles.
