A peated Island single malt from Tobermory, bottled by Blackadder as Edition No. 59 of its Raw Cask Statement series. It was distilled on 24 March 1997 and filled into a single hogshead, then bottled in December 2022 after 25 years. The 208 bottles are at a cask strength of 61.5%, and the bottler describes the peating as light to medium.
On the nose there is smouldering driftwood, sea breeze, grilled pineapple, old leather-bound books and eucalyptus, with beeswax and soft vanilla emerging over time. The palate is full, with well-integrated peat smoke, dried mango and papaya, roasted nuts, clove and dark chocolate. The finish is long, with smoke fading into liquorice, sea salt and a hint of tobacco.
