Loch Lomond – 14 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

This is a 14 year old Highland single malt from Loch Lomond, bottled at 46% without chill-filtration in a 70cl bottle. The spirit comes from the distillery's straight neck pot stills and matures in American oak, using bourbon, refill and re-charred casks. The last twelve months of the fourteen years are spent in Limousin oak, a French oak finish that adds spice to the fruit. Michael Henry puts the bottling together from the matured whiskies. The nose has coconut, green apple and pear with cinnamon, clove and lemon. The palate offers sweet toffee and vanilla fudge with grapefruit, other citrus and pineapple, then toasted oak. The long finish shows soft smoke and warming oak spice, with clove and aniseed.
