Loch Lomond 18 Year Old is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky from the distillery at Alexandria, bottled at 46% in a 750ml bottle.
It matures only in American oak casks and is non-chill-filtered. The distillery uses pot stills with rectification trays in the neck, and runs four different still types.
The nose is rich sherry, roasted nuts and leather, with a little wood smoke beneath. The palate has caramelised apple, fudge and dark fruit, then baked apple, honeysuckle, gooseberry, a hint of peat and quiet ginger. The finish is long and sweet, with orchard fruit, gentle smoke and a pastry-like note.
