Loch Lomond – 18 Year Old (70cl, 46%)

This is an 18 year old Highland single malt from Loch Lomond Distillery, part of its standard range. It is bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky matured entirely in American oak, using refill bourbon casks that were re-charred. It is not chill-filtered, though colour has been added. The nose pairs green apple and grapefruit with honeysuckle and mature oak. On the palate, toasted oak and cigar box give way to green fruit, with apple and gooseberry. The long finish brings dried tea and tobacco leaf, with a soft medicinal peat and wood smoke.
