Loch Lomond – 1996/2025 28 Year Old Sauternes Cask Finish (Murray McDavid) (70cl, 51.2%)

This is a 28-year-old single grain from Loch Lomond, distilled in 1996 and bottled in 2025 by Murray McDavid for its Mission Gold range. The spirit was made from malted barley rather than the wheat or maize usual for grain whisky. After maturing in bourbon barrels, it spent its last five years in first-fill Sauternes casks. Three casks were combined for 686 bottles at 51.2%. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. The nose combines floral honey, glazed peach and citrus. On the palate, candied lemon and tropical fruit meet a creamy texture, and the finish carries ginger, vanilla cream and sweet spices.
