Loch Lomond – 47 Year Old 1974 Remarkable Stills 3rd Edition (70cl)

This is a 47 year old Highland single malt from Loch Lomond, distilled in 1974 and released as the third and final edition in the Remarkable Stills series. Only 200 bottles were filled. The spirit is fully unpeated and was made in the distillery's Straight Neck pot stills. It spent its first 43 years in refill American oak, then moved to second fill Oloroso sherry casks, which add dried tropical fruit alongside the orchard fruit character of the distillery. The nose brings toffee, orange, green apple, rose, sultanas and warm spice. The palate is velvety, with caramel, vanilla, melon, kiwi and elderflower, and the finish is long, with brown sugar, lime and cinnamon.
