Loch Lomond – Inchmoan 12 Year Old (46%)

A peated 12 year old single malt from Loch Lomond, bottled at 46%. It is made from malt distilled in both traditional swan-neck pot stills and straight-neck stills, then matured in recharred American oak and refill bourbon casks. The name looks back to the island of Inchmoan, which supplied peat to local villages. The nose is dry smoke with vanilla syrup and a touch of black pepper. The palate is sweet and medicinal, with smoked bacon, roasted coffee beans, clove and star anise, plus green apple and pear. The finish is long, with waxy peat and citrus notes of hops and gooseberry.
