Loch Lomond The Open Special Edition is a Highland single malt released to mark The Open Championship. It is bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was first matured in three types of American bourbon cask, then finished in virgin oak barrels.
Caramel and toffee come first on the nose, with stewed pear, red apple and fresh vanilla. The palate is full and sweet, with soft toffee, green apple, apricot jam and citrus, plus vanilla and gentle spice. The finish is warming, with toasted oak, a light smokiness, cinnamon and clove.
