This is a 12 year old Lochindaal single malt from The Single Cask series, filled into a first-fill bourbon barrel. It was distilled on 1 September 2009 and bottled on 2 September 2021, with only 229 bottles drawn from the cask.
The nose is layered, with ash, camphor, bacon and sea salt, then honey and malt. A second nosing brings smoked fish. On the palate come lemon, burning driftwood and sweet peat, followed by fresh-cut grass, a touch of jalapeño, walnuts, salted caramel, dark chocolate, barbecue notes, cinnamon and white pepper. The finish carries honey, peat, warm ash and a little menthol.
